I believe in the existence of an almighty higher power
Some people might call me an agnostic, though, because I don’t profess to know the form of God, or what concept of God is the “right” one. I certainly am doubtful about literal interpretations of the Biblical creation story, and when it comes to human evolution versus Adam and Eve, I would definitely go with the theory of human evolution.
This doesn’t mean, however, that the Biblical accounts of Adam and Eve and Noah’s Ark mean nothing. For every mystery human science solves, ten more are waiting. What really did wipe out the dinosaurs? The “asteroid theory” is still a hypothetical theory. Some kind of massive flood might not be out of the question.
Whatever the history, I am sure of one thing: we humans will know more and more about our history and surroundings, but we will never know it all; nor are we responsible for creating it all. Though I very much see the logic behind natural selection, the fact that we are no closer to understanding how life itself evolved from hydrogen suggests to me some kind of higher intelligent design—although in no way do I believe that evolution is irrelevant.
This is not the only reason I believe there to be a “Most High.” (Continue reading: How did life come into being?)

I am a believer in the existence of God, and I will in the near future write a series of posts on my beliefs. After all, the future of our world has everything to do with the beliefs and values we hold. I’ll start with myself. […]
