Earth won’t be able to support human life at the rate we’re going. What can we do?
According to a World Wildlife report featured in the Guardian,
the human race is plundering the planet at a pace that outstrips its capacity to support life….[two] extra planets (the equivalent size of Earth) will be required by the year 2050 as existing resources are exhausted.
Live Earth and other events are just the beginning of a wider movement around saving the environment that is going to grow, and quickly—or else.
What is to be done, then?
You’ve already heard about solar panels, wind turbines, biodiesel, and hybrid systems, right? Well, there are other things, millions of things, that you can do. The following links are intended to give an idea of Earth-saving technologies of the future, so check ‘em out.
How about harnessing sound energy? Or even using your own excrement to power your home? (talk about recycling) See here for more, including growing spinach for energy.
Or how about a gym bike that you ride that produces energy from your own efforts? I think this one would be good for young children. That way the TV wouldn’t work unless you exercised. Your kid will never become a couch-potato that way!
Well, if you just don’t have the know-how (or the gym) to do these things, at least you can reduce the amount of power your Windows XP-based computer uses.
Want more ideas? Take this quiz and pay attention to the questions asked. You’d be amazed at how many things you do daily that have an impact on the environment. Or, the next time you move, find a nice hole in the ground to live in. Literally.
