Eating dinner while flying (in the open air!)

dinnersky.jpgThere are some strange places you can have dinner, but this one takes the cake: you sit down to dinner while your table is picked up and carried over a city by a crane. You and up to 21 other people enjoy bird’s eye views of a Belgian or Netherlandish city. Heck, this makes dining at the top of a skyscraper look like nothing. Read on…

Spam at gunpoint: beware of threats sent to your email

From smut to drugs to sweepstakes, spam just keeps evolving. First there was innocent solicitation, then sexual junk and drugs. Welcome to my blog

Hello, folks!

I just began work on this new blog you see here. It’s still a work in progress, but the basic gist of it is this: many people out there who use the Internet are not really taking full advantage of all that there is to use. On today’s Internet, you can find almost anything very quickly–and what you can’t find quickly, you can find with a little know-how and the right tools. It’s not just for checking email and basic Google searches anymore.

This blog is aimed at people of all stripes who want simple and easy ways to get “in the know.” The fact is that in today’s world, a good understanding of how to use the technology and the Internet is not only more valuable, it is more necessary. Whether you are looking for a specific job, a new home, or general information about a company, a country, a system–anything–knowing how to use the Internet is vital. Even people whose jobs once had absolutely nothing to do with computer technology (for example, butcher, baker, candlestick maker (links open in new windows)) now need to know how to manage the Web for their own needs. At the very least, anybody can broaden their reach and knowledge of anything just by logging on.

I know that learning this new world can be challenging, even for computer-savvy people. As a former tutor, one of my strengths is breaking down hard-to-understand stuff so that anyone can get it. That’s what I intend to do here. So please browse around my site and enjoy–and feel free to leave me a comment.
